A good friend from a long time ago

Created by Eleanor 6 years ago

I met Chris when I started working in B H Blackwell in 1970.  He was one of a bunch of lads working in 'lookout' for Rodney Howard. The 'lads' included : Ivor Sweetnam, Peter Stott, Bob Herring, Mike Shakespeare, 'Wally' Chamberlain, Paul Collins and Brian Hazell amongst others  They got up to all sorts of mischief.  ( I married one of them!)  Chris became a good friend, involved in many parties at Weston on the Green and various pub visits.  One involving a short cut through some fields, some cow pats, lost shoes and sleeping on the kitchen floor, half out of the door!

It was through Chris and his Nimegan walk/connection that we met a couple who were to become lifelong friends who are godparents to one of our boys.  We lost touch  as we both became involved with our families although still kept in touch annually at Christmas for many years.  Very sad to hear this news, much love Eleanor and Mike Shakespeare
